Change. What does the word “change” really mean? Everything about Thurgood Marshall’s life was about change. Marshall wanted all people to be treated fairly and equally. He said this during a time when it could cost an African American their life for sharing this thought.. Marshall valued education. He used it to help others achieve their goals. He did this at a time when many African Americans were still not allowed to learn how to read and write or even dream about a better life for themselves or their children. How did Thurgood Marshall lead a movement of change? 

Objective

By the end of the lesson, students will learn about Thurgood Marshall’s life and how his work helped change laws to make the United States a fairer place for all people.
